State and local Lewisboro police have taken a 69-year-old suspected drunk driver into custody for a crash that hospitalized a Westchester County pedestrian. The alleged drunk driving accident is not the first arrest for driving while under the influence for the Goldens Bridge woman.
According to police records, a 52-year-old Goldens Bridge resident and his wife were walking along Brundige Drive around 4:00 p.m. Authorities noted that the pedestrians were walking "properly while facing traffic," heading northbound along the shoulder of the southbound side of the road. The allegedly intoxicated driver was traveling the wrong way along Brundige Drive, moving northbound on the southbound side, when she struck the walker from behind.

A car accident permanently disabled a Westchester County landscaper. A jury in the victim's civil lawsuit recently divided the blame and expenses for the car crash among the driver, the car owner, the accident victim's employer and the injured worker.
Three years ago, the landscape worker was hit by a car as he unloaded a work trailer in Tarrytown. The jury decided the employer, Sleepy Hollow Landscaping, shouldered 60 percent of the accident responsibility in the $11.2 million judgment. At the time of the accident, the landscaper's vehicle was parked along Benedict Avenue. Safety cones and a small sign posted around the work zone were found to be inadequate employee protection.

The New York State Senate overwhelmingly approved legislation that would bring charges against intoxicated adult passengers who supervise inexperienced drivers. "Abbagail's Law" is one of two proposals circulating among state lawmakers meant to protect younger drivers and passengers from indirectly-caused drugged or drunk driving accidents.
The bills were drafted following the death of an 8-year-old Orleans County girl in a 2009 motor vehicle accident. A 17-year-old cousin, under the supervision of the child's inebriated father, was blamed for a crash that killed the girl. No law existed to criminalize the intoxication of the supervising adult.

Neighborhood residents in Jamaica, Queens said that a car blew through an intersection and caused a recent bus crash that hurt six people. According to Cedar Manor residents who heard and saw the accident, the collision vaulted a school bus over a curb and into the side of a house. A pedestrian was struck between the roadway and the residence.
A neighbor, who was standing outside at the time of the bus accident, heard the sounds of a "bang" and a "crash." Another witness claims the accident happened because a Nissan Altima failed to stop at a red light at Liverpool Street and Glassboro Avenue and t-boned the bus.

The complications of responsibility following an injury accident are magnified when alcohol is a suspected factor. When the accused in a drunk driving accident is also a member of the law enforcement community, an internal police investigation is standard.
